Job Summary As a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department , you will provide safe, timely, and compassionate care to patients presenting with a wide range of illnesses, injuries, and levels of acuity. You will assess patients, identify changes in condition, prioritize care based on clinical needs, and collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to provide appropriate treatment.
This position is located at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - College Station and works the evening shift from 3:00 PM-3:00 AM .
The Emergency Department RN is responsible for delivering patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment while maintaining patient safety, supporting families, and responding effectively to changes in patient condition. You will practice within the Texas Nursing Practice Act, Baylor Scott & White policies, and professional nursing standards.
Essential Functions of the Role
• Perform comprehensive assessments of patients presenting to the Emergency Department and identify immediate and ongoing care needs.
• Prioritize patient care based on acuity, clinical presentation, and changing patient conditions.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans.
• Monitor patients closely and recognize signs of deterioration or changes in condition, taking appropriate action.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments safely and accurately according to orders and established policies.
• Provide care for patients with a variety of medical, surgical, traumatic, and emergent conditions.
• Collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapy, laboratory, radiology, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, discharge instructions, and follow-up care.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, interventions, patient responses, and outcomes.
• Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families while providing compassionate care during stressful and potentially emergent situations.
• Safely delegate appropriate tasks based on patient condition, staff competency, and applicable nursing standards.
• Assist with patient transfers, admissions, discharges, and transitions of care as appropriate.
• Maintain a safe environment and follow infection prevention, patient safety, and emergency department protocols.
• Participate in department initiatives focused on quality, patient experience, safety, and continuous improvement.
• Support team members and contribute to a collaborative environment in a high-volume Emergency Department.

• Knowledge of medications, treatments, disease processes, and emergency interventions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills when working with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members.

• Commitment to patient safety, quality care, and compassionate service.
• Understanding of the Texas Nursing Practice Act and professional nursing standards.
• Basic computer skills, including electronic medical documentation, email, and applicable hospital systems.

Qualifications
• Grad of an Accredited Program
• Specialized field of study should be nursing.
• RN license.
• Must have BLS certification or get it within 30 days of starting in this role.
