Description
The Division of Interventional Radiology (IR) in the College of Medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) in Little Rock, AR is seeking a full-time faculty member. The Division of Interventional Radiology is responsible for providing quality interventional care to patients across the region and country. The IR Division performs more than 9,000 interventional cases per year. UAMS is the only kidney and liver transplant program in the state and the only Level 1 trauma center in the state, the hub of stroke care and intervention, and plays a role in supporting our world-renowned programs in myeloma and neurosurgery.
We currently have five full-time IR faculty members and four advanced practice providers. Faculty members are required to cover call at UAMS and the adjoining Central Arkansas Veterans Hospital. On average, call is once every seven weeks and is taken one week at a time (Friday-Thursday). Each faculty member has one day of dedicated clinic time, and the clinic is located in the Outpatient Surgery Clinic at UAMS. In addition to performing cases at UAMS, IR faculty members also spend, on average, one day each week at our IR office-based lab location in Little Rock.
The Division of IR underwent an extensive renovation in 2025-2026 which included the installation of two Canon Alphenix Sky+ ceiling mounted angiography systems, an Alphenix 4D CT combined CT/Angiography unit, and a dedicated Canon procedural CT. Our IR office-based lab has Siemens ARTIS Q and a dedicated procedural CT.
The Division of Interventional Radiology sponsors two ACGME accredited residency training programs: Interventional Radiology Integrated and Interventional Radiology Independent. We are approved for five Integrated residency positions and one Independent position. Our ACGME accredited Diagnostic Radiology residency is also approved to offer Early Specialization in Interventional Radiology (ESIR) positions.
In addition to Interventional Radiology, the Department of Radiology faculty offer expertise across key Divisions including Breast Imaging, Body, MSK, Interventional Neuroradiology, Nuclear Medicine, Neuroradiology, Radiology Sciences, Pediatric Radiology, and Emergency Radiology. We deliver comprehensive outpatient and inpatient care in conjunction with appropriate consultants and specialists for the diagnosis of a broad spectrum of diseases. Our mission is to provide high quality patient care while training the next generation of interventional radiologists.
Faculty candidates must hold an M.D. or equivalent degree, be either BE/BC by the ABR and have medical licensure or eligibility in Arkansas. The candidate must have completed an ACGME accredited Interventional Radiology Integrated residency or an ACGME accredited Diagnostic Radiology residency as well as an accredited Interventional Radiology Independent residency.
