Description
University of Nebraska Medical Center / Nebraska Medicine – Omaha, Nebraska
The Department of Radiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center is seeking a collaborative, clinically engaged, board-certified/board-eligible Interventional Radiologist to join a six-physician academic IR group at a major tertiary and quaternary referral center. We welcome both experienced interventional radiologists and outstanding recent graduates who enjoy a busy, high-acuity practice and value a team-based environment.
This is a busy, broad-spectrum, nearly 100% interventional radiology practice with particular strengths in interventional oncology, transplant and portal/hepatobiliary intervention, and pulmonary embolism interventions, with an expanding focus on men’s and women’s health interventions.
Our group maintains a broad-based practice model for all physicians. Following an initial orientation period, faculty share responsibility across the major areas of IR while also having opportunities to develop individual areas of expertise and interest.
Our interventional oncology program includes Y-90 radioembolization, TACE, thermal ablation, HEPZATO, clinical trials, and emerging therapies. Our transplant and hepatobiliary practices include a high volume of TIPS, BRTO/PARTO, portal venous interventions, and complex biliary procedures.
Additional areas of practice include gonadal vein embolization, complex venous intervention, vascular malformations, lymphatic intervention, musculoskeletal procedures, selected dialysis access procedures, and trauma/emergency embolization. We are actively growing our PAE and UAE services lines.
The division also participates in an established multidisciplinary Pulmonary Embolism Response Team (PERT), with pulmonary embolism call shared with vascular surgery.
Our procedural facilities include three dedicated Siemens angiography suites with 3D capability, a dedicated procedural CT suite, a dedicated ultrasound procedure room, and access to two additional biplane angiography suites. The inpatient service is staffed by a dedicated advanced practice provider (APP), with active recruitment underway to hire additional APPs. The division is further supported by two nurse case managers who coordinate inpatient care, outpatient clinics, referrals, and longitudinal patient management.
UNMC sponsors an integrated Interventional Radiology residency with one IR resident per year. Faculty have substantial opportunities for resident and medical student education, as well as clinical research, particularly in interventional oncology.
At full staffing, home call is approximately 1:6, with residents taking first call.
Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible in Interventional Radiology/Diagnostic Radiology and eligible for medical licensure in Nebraska.
