The Department of Surgery of the Weill Cornell Medical College is seeking a pediatric surgeon to join the full-time faculty in the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor of Surgery within the Division of Pediatric Surgery. The applicant must be board certified in General Surgery, fellowship-trained, and board certified or board eligible in Pediatric Surgery. The position requires a strong commitment to clinical care and the academic missions of research and education. The candidate will participate in the full breadth of pediatric general and thoracic surgery which entails both acute care inpatient and outpatient care. Subspecialty interest is welcome.

The selected candidate will join four other pediatric surgeons within the Division of Pediatric Surgery at the Weill Cornell Medical College, along with advance practice professionals and trainees, as well as a full administrative staff. We care for patients within the New York Presbyterian Hospital-Komansky Children’s Hospital at NYP-WCM, as well as two additional hospitals within the WCM network, namely NYP-Queens and NYP-Brooklyn.

The New York Presbyterian-Komansky Children’s Hospital abuts the Alexandra Cohen Hospital for Women and Newborns that supports 7,500 deliveries per year. The brand new 60-bed Level IV ACH NICU opened in 2022 and provides a robust neonatal experience in vast, complex pediatric surgical disorders. Our 20-bed PICU (expanding to 28 beds in 2026) and a 30-bed inpatient pediatric medical-surgical unit round out our inpatient units. In 2027, we will unveil four new operating rooms dedicated to Pediatric Surgical services and patients.

The Division of Pediatric Surgery leads and participates in several clinical multi-disciplinary programs and performs a multitude of applicable pediatric surgical procedures. Programs include:

• Fetal Care Center
• Trauma (Level II)
• Oncology
• Hepatobiliary
• Thoracic and Chest Wall
• Minimal Access Surgery, including Robotics
• Vascular Malformations
• ECMO, including EXIT (ELSO Center of Excellence)

NYP-Komansky Children’s Hospital boasts an extensive network of pediatric primary practices, pediatric hospitalist service, and pediatric subspecialty referral base, including NICU/PICU, Emergency Department, Hematology/Oncology, Gastroenterology, Pulmonology, Nephrology, Neurology, Endocrinology, and other subspecialty surgical services such as ENT, Urology, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Cardiac Surgery, and Interventional Radiology.

Our division in an integral component in the education of Weill Cornell Medical College students, and the training of NYP-WCM campus General Surgery residents.

Pediatric Surgeon Salary: $300,000 to $428,583 per annum commensurate with qualifications and experience (this range does not include non-productivity-based supplemental compensation, and/or bonus). Weill Cornell Medicine provides the above salary range in compliance with the New York City law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range listed is for fulltime employment not including bonuses, clinical incentive compensation, or benefits. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors including but not limited to internal equity, specialty, training, and hospital/community needs. The above salary range for New York City based roles represents WCM’s good faith and reasonable estimate of possible compensation at the time of posting.
