The University of Rochester invites applications and nominations for the position of Chief of Radiology at Highland Hospital, a key leadership role within the Department of Imaging Sciences. This is an exceptional opportunity for an accomplished radiologist to lead a high-performing community-based radiology division within a fully integrated academic health system.
Position Overview
The Chief of Radiology will provide strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for imaging services at Highland Hospital, a 260-bed hospital in Rochester, NY, known for excellence in bariatric surgery, joint replacement, geriatric care, and women’s services/maternity care.
The Chief will oversee a team of community radiologists practicing in a state-of-the-art environment supported by enterprise-wide unified PACS and strong IT infrastructure. The division benefits from full University affiliation and academic collaboration with the Department of Imaging Sciences.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for the Highland Hospital Radiology Division
- Oversee clinical operations, quality assurance, patient safety, and regulatory compliance
- Recruit, mentor, and retain high-quality radiology faculty
- Advise hospital leadership on departmental human resource allocation
- Foster a culture of professionalism, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Partner with hospital and health system leadership to expand and optimize imaging services
- Ensure alignment with departmental and institutional missions in clinical care, education, and academic advancement
- Support subspecialty growth (e.g., abdominal, neuro, or chest imaging) while maintaining strong general radiology services
Qualifications
- MD, DO, or equivalent degree
- Board Certified by the American Board of Radiology (ABR)
- Demonstrated leadership experience in a hospital or radiology practice setting
- Record of clinical excellence and strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Fellowship training (e.g., abdominal, neuroradiology, or chest imaging) preferred
- Eligibility for medical licensure in New York State

Compensation
The salary range for this position is $530,400 – $560,000, commensurate with experience and academic credentials. In addition, the Chief will be eligible for a leadership incentive of up to $30,000 annually, based on performance and achievement of agreed-upon leadership goals.
